Errol Musk Faces Allegations of Decades-Long Sexual Abuse Against Children, Elon Remains Silent

Errol Musk, the 79-year-old father of billionaire Elon Musk, has been accused of sexually abusing at least five of his children and stepchildren over decades, according to a New York Times investigation published on Tuesday, 23 September 2025.

The allegations, spanning from 1993 in South Africa and California, include disturbing claims of abuse starting when some victims were as young as four, backed by police records, court filings, and family letters cited in the report. Among the accusers is Jana Bezuidenhout, Errol’s former stepdaughter, who later bore children with him and filed a 2009 protection order alleging abuse against her siblings and a stepbrother who died in a car crash. Despite three police investigations, no charges have been filed. As of 3:56 PM SAST on Wednesday, 24 September 2025—Heritage Day in South Africa—the story has sparked intense online debate, casting a harsh light on a family saga marked by conflict, with Elon Musk yet to comment publicly.

The timing, coinciding with Heritage Day celebrations, adds a poignant layer, as South Africans reflect on family legacies and the need for justice. Elon, who has long called his father “evil” in past interviews, faces renewed scrutiny over his silence, with some family members reportedly seeking his help over the years.

Detailed Allegations and Evidence

The New York Times investigation, drawing on extensive documentation, outlines a pattern of abuse starting in 1993. Jana Bezuidenhout, then four, told relatives Errol touched her inappropriately at their Pretoria home, with later claims of him sniffing her underwear as a teen. Her 2009 protection order alleged abuse against two daughters and a stepson, the latter dying in a 2006 crash.

Other accusers include Errol’s children and stepchildren, with incidents reported in California, where he lived briefly. A 2023 claim involved a five-year-old son alleging groping, prompting a dropped police probe due to insufficient evidence. Family letters to Elon, seeking intervention, add to the evidence, though his response remains unclear.

Three investigations—two closed, one unresolved—failed to yield charges, with Errol claiming judicial dismissals he couldn’t substantiate.

Errol Musk’s Denial and Accusations of Extortion

Errol Musk has fiercely denied the allegations, telling the Times: “The reports are false and nonsense in the extreme.” He suggested relatives coached children to lie for money from Elon, a claim echoing his past dismissals of family disputes.

His response aligns with a pattern of deflecting criticism, including past comments on Elon’s upbringing. The Times noted his grip over the family, complicating accusers’ efforts.

Elon Musk’s Silence Amid Family Turmoil

Elon, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has not addressed the allegations publicly as of this afternoon. His 2017 Rolling Stone interview, calling Errol “a terrible human being” who did “almost every evil thing,” foreshadows his current stance. Family letters suggest he’s offered financial support to some relatives, but his involvement in police probes remains unconfirmed.

Online, reactions range from shock to demands for Elon to speak out. “If true, this is sickening—where’s Elon’s response?” one X user posted. Others defend his privacy, given his estrangement from Errol.
