The uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party) has confirmed that its president, former South African President Jacob Zuma, will attend the enthronement of Dr. Lesedi Gabriel Monageng Motsatsi as the Chief of Batlokwa ba Bogatsu. The ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, 24 September 2024, at the Royal Kgotla in Tlokweng ya Kolontwane, within Moses Kotane Municipality in the North West Province. The event will begin at 09:00.
According to MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela, Zuma’s attendance is a significant gesture reflecting the party’s respect and deep admiration for South Africa’s royal and traditional leadership. “uMkhonto weSizwe Party encourages all people of South Africa, especially our members, to unite and embrace the heritage that binds us, as unity remains our most powerful tool,” Ndhlela emphasized.
This event marks an essential moment for the MK Party, which has consistently underscored the importance of honoring traditional authorities as part of its broader political and cultural objectives. Zuma’s ongoing influence within the party, even after his tenure as South Africa’s president, remains a critical aspect of MK’s leadership, and his attendance further solidifies his role in engaging with traditional institutions.
