By Thys Khiba – South African Kwaito legend Bonginkosi “Zola 7” Dlamini will be performing on April 8 at the Ngwathe Easter Experience at Mimosa Gardens in Parys, Free State.
His performance in Parys comes after he received praises from television personality and Metro FM Thabo ‘Tbo Touch‘ Molefe for making his comeback after a long break.
“We serve a God of second, third, fourth chances, we can never reflect on the evolution of urban culture and not mention Zola’s name.
“Many thought he would never walk, sing and perform ever again but sometimes life has a way of reminding us that God is on the throne!!!” said Tbo Touch.
Kwaito legend spent years without performing due to his ill-health and other setbacks.
Veteran rapper had a rough patch in 2022, which made him to trend on social media after a video clip of him raised concerns about his health.
He recently performed at the “A Night with Legends” kwaito concert, which was held on 1 October 2022.
Other kwaito musicians who performed at the concert included the likes of Mdu, Thebe, Oskido, Arthur and Kabelo.
The Bubblegum Entertainment spokesperson Tim Masemolasaid Zola 7 is a musician who is able to fuse kwaito and hip hop music genres into a one song.
Masemola said Zola 7 is the link between the older and younger generations.
The line–up for the event includes Musa Keys, Dj Finzo, Maklera Doe Boy, LeGoody, Ntate Stunna, Masedi, Vinton, Goddard, Scova, Pulz, Dj Fantas, and this includes local DJs and artists.
Tickets are available at Computicket or any Shoprite or Checkers outlet.
Early bird tickets are R150, general are R200, and R500 for VIP.
