Sasolburg – The City of Love & Restoration Full Gospel Church, under the leadership of Reverend Thabiso Mashiloane, is excited to host the annual “Education Sunday Service” on Sunday, 16 June 2024. This event aims to celebrate education and honour the achievements of recent graduates
Every year, this event gathers the community to promote education and acknowledge the hard work of those who have successfully graduated. This year promises to be no different, with distinguished guests, powerful speeches, and a spirit of celebration.

**Keynote Speaker: Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng**
Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, a renowned academic, will be the keynote speaker at the event. She is known for her significant contributions to the academic field both locally and internationally.
**Who is Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng?**
Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng has an impressive academic and professional background. She obtained her PhD in Mathematics Education from the University of the Witwatersrand and has served in various academic and leadership roles. She was the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Town. Her work focuses on addressing educational challenges and empowering young academics. She is a respected figure in the education sector and has received numerous awards for her contributions.
**Historical Attendance:**
The Education Sunday Service has seen numerous prominent figures in attendance over the years. In 2023, Premier of the Free State Mxolisi Dukwana graced the event. The 2022 service had MEC of Finance Gadija Brown in attendance, while the late MEC of Education Tate Makgoe attended in 2021. Popular Member of Parliament, Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, was present at the service in 2019.
**About Reverend Thabiso Mashiloane:**
Rev. Thabiso Mashiloane is a well-respected ordained minister in the Full Gospel Church of God in South Africa and a bishop in the Church of God in the USA. He leads the congregation in Sasolburg and is the Deputy Overseer of the Bophelong Region of the Full Gospel Church. Rev. Mashiloane has a wealth of experience and qualifications, including a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the Regent Business School and various diplomas and certificates from the University of Johannesburg.
Beyond his ministerial duties, Rev. Mashiloane is deeply involved in corporate governance and serves on several boards and committees, including:
– The Health Professions Council of South Africa’s Ethics and Provident & Pensions Fund Committees.
– The Gauteng Mental Health Review Board.
– The Fezi Ngubentombi Hospital Board as Chairperson.
– The Tshwane District Hospital Board.
– The Fezile Dabi District Health Council.
– The Sedibeng Local Committee of the Gauteng Liquor Board.
– The Appeals Tribunal and Disciplinary Committees of the Legal Practice Council in the Free State Province.
– The Student Services Committee of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
– The Free State Gambling, Liquor and Tourism Authority, where he chairs the Corporate Services Committee.
Rev. Mashiloane’s extensive experience and passion for corporate governance underscore his commitment to community development and service.
