“The law enforcement agencies must deal with this situation before it becomes a regular occurrence in the North West province as it is in other provinces like KwaZulu Natal,” said YCLSA Provincial Secretary Tsietsi Letsebe.

The YCLSA said that it can’t be business as usual while their leaders are murdered, as they are predicting that the province is turning into ‘a den of assassinations.

“The YCLSA hereby makes a clarion call on the Minister of Police Cde Bheki Cele to urgently sanction an inquiry into the assassination plots of our comrades who die in vain over political insecurities of those leading the movement astray,” said Letsebe.

This is after the brutal assassination of Vukile Themba ‘Jola’ Gunguthwa who was murdered with more than 8 bullets.

‘Jola’ was a member of the South African Communist Party (SACP) and African National Congress (ANC) in Ward 41 branch of Rustenburg.

According to the YCLSA, the late Gunguthwa became a victim of the Askari operation and plot to assassinate Zenzele Xhinela.

“In April 2021 Cde Xhinela survived an ambush by the same plotters and it did not take long for these plotters to come for the second round this past weekend by directing bullets to CdeZenzele’s bakkie in the evening of the day thinking its CdeZenzele,” said Letsebe.

Lestebe said political intolerance should not be allowed any space in the politics of the province. He continued to say that the political killings which happen during the elections period are detrimental to the democracy of South Africa.

Speaking to Free State Central News, the YCLSA said that the law enforcement agencies in the province seems to be useless when it comes to dealing with cases of political killings and used the murder case of the late Oubuti Chika and Moss Phakoeas examples.

“The YCLSA in the Moses KOtane province dips its red banner and sends heartfelt condolences to the family of CdeGunguthwa.”
