By Thys Khiba – Dorah Zwidofhelangani Manwandu, the wife of murdered state lawyer, James Manwadu was arrested on Tuesday in connection with his killing and appeared in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court in on Wednesday.
This comes after Manwandu was shot and killed on 16 January last year.
Reports confirmed the attorney, attached to Legal Aid South Africa in Thohoyandou, was getting out of his vehicle to open the gate at home when he was approached by gunmen and shot dead.

She is expected to remain in police custody until 3 February for legal representation.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi indicated Manwandu’s wife is the fourth person to appear in court for his murder.
The first arrested suspects, Tshianeo Munyai, Pfunzo Lidzebe, and Nemakhavhani Ndalamo appeared in the same court last year.
The three suspects are expected to appear in court again on 20 February.
The two suspects Munyai and Lidzebe were also linked to the murder case of Collins Chabane Municipality Mayor Moses Maluleke.
Maluleke, 56, was shot and killed at his home in Xikunduvillage in July during an alleged botched robbery. His 19-year old son was also shot but recovered in hospital.
“Munyai is linked to several other cases committed between 2020 and 2022 for robberies with aggravating circumstances while Nemakhavhani is also linked to several cases of housebreaking, robberies, and theft committed around Thohoyandou,” said Malabi-Dzhangi.
Chabane case:
The mentioned suspects will appear in Limpopo Polokwane High Court for the start of their trial in the Chabane case.
