By Thys Khiba – The Vaal University of Technology (VUT) has officially announced the appointment of an experienced and qualified 35-year old Corporate Communication Professional, Dumile Mlambo as their HOD for Corporate Communications on Friday.
Mlambo was born in Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality, in the dusty streets of North West, Itsoseng.
“We welcome Dumile on board the Advancement ship. He brings along a youthful vibrancy, coupled with rich knowledge of the higher education sector and the marketing communication profession. He is undoubtedly an asset to VUT,” said Executive Director for the Advancement department, Tandi Mapukata.
Mlambo recently worked for South African Medical Council (SAMRC) as its Public Relations Manager in Cape Town.
Before his working relations with SAMRC, he worked as a Communication and Marketing Coordinator at Stellenbosch University, and Digital Communications Officer and Internal Communications Officer for the North West University’s Mafikeng and Vaal Campus.
Mlambo also extended his hand by working for the Department of Human Settlements from Housing in the public sector.
Tandi confirmed the appointment of Mlambo comes at the time whereby VUT is in the process of rolling out several facets of its renewal project.
The institution is still expected to promote and implement the recently launched VUT brand image.
With his more than ten years experience in the public and higher education sector as corporate communication professional, Mlambo is expected to help the institution in terms of how it communicates with various stakeholders like staff, students, council, strategic partners, and alumni community members.
“Drawing from his sound knowledge of the South African media landscape, coupled with an understanding of higher education, he is expected to help position the institution positively and favourably in the public domain – through proactive media engagement for improved traction on both traditional and new media,” said VUT in a statement.
Colleagues in the media industry, including the SABC News journalist Tebogo Phakedi have taken to social media to congratulate and express their well wishes for Mlambo on his new appointment.
“Congratulations. All the best. We’re beaming with pride ronayour products,” said Phakedi.
