“Dr Matthew Lani”

Regarding the latest developments on the case involving the alleged bogus doctor and TikTok influencer, “Dr Matthew Lani “ Matthews Zingelwa-Lani, several institutions have provided updates on his qualifications and professional status.

The University of the Witwatersrand has stated that there are no records of Zingelwa-Lani graduating from their institution as a medical doctor. This raises serious doubts about his claimed medical qualifications.

Adding to this, Cambridge International College asserts that Zingelwa-Lani has never been enrolled at their institution, nor does his name appear in any of their official registers covering any period. This further reinforces the skepticism surrounding his academic background.

Moreover, the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) has confirmed that Zingelwa-Lani’s name is not listed in their register of health practitioners. This is in direct violation of section 17 of the Health Professions Act, signaling potential legal implications for his actions.

In response to these revelations, the Gauteng Department of Health (GDoH) has taken decisive action. Today, they have initiated a case at the Brixton Police Station in Brixton, officially lodging a complaint of impersonating a medical doctor against Zingelwa-Lani.

This is a developing story, and we will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
