Boksburg Magistrate Court
Two men are set to appear before the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on the 13th of March 2024 (Wednesday), after Gauteng Police successfully apprehended them this past Tuesday with an arsenal that included an AK47 and two pistols complete with ammunition. They were arrested in Reigerpark, Boksburg, during an operation that revealed more than just a cache of weapons.
The suspects are entangled with allegations of being in possession of a stolen vehicle as well as unlicensed firearms and ammunition, placing them at the wrong side of the law and facing an uncertain future if found guilty.
This significant bust was the result of astute policing coupled with community involvement where a tip-off concerning the aforementioned stolen vehicle put the authorities on high alert. The vehicle, which had been taken during a house robbery in Vanderbijlpark, was reportedly seen in Boksburg sporting bogus registration plates.
“The information received indicated that the vehicle, which was now fitted with false registration numbers, was spotted in Boksburg,” Gauteng Police stated, adding clout to the narrative of the arrests.
Upon recovery of the vehicle, the unraveling of the suspect’s plan led to a deeper probe which culminated in the unearthing of the three firearms and ammunition stowed away at one of the suspect’s dwellings within the confinements of Reiger Park.
