Bloemfontein – The Free State police officers have arrested two suspects, between the ages of 34 and 36, after being found in possession of copper and wire cables that are suspected to be stolen, on Saturday.
According to the Provincial Spokesperson for South African Police Services (SAPS) members, Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, the two arrested suspects were in possession of copper valued at about R350 000.

“On Saturday the 12 June 2021 at about 05:45, Constable Pule Mosehle and Mbongeni Zondi were busy with normal patrols in Orangesig Bloemfontein, when they received an information regarding a suspicious vehicle,” said Brigadier Makhele.
After receiving an information regarding a suspicious vehicle, the police officers who were on duty followed the information and spotted the identified white bakkie loaded with copper. Brigadier Makhele confirmed that the two suspects tried to flee when they became aware of the police officers, but the police officers managed to arrest them.
The two suspects are expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court for possession of suspected stolen copper and wire cables soon.
