By Thys Khiba – Mpumalanga police officials have arrested two sons aged 25 and 27 for allegedly attempting to kill their 68 year old father at Maviljan Trust outside Bushbuckridge.
“According to information, it’s alleged that the victim was asleep last night, Monday 28 November 2022 at about 22:30 in his house, when he heard a knock from his bedroom door. It is further alleged that one of his son indicated to him that he was bringing back a key,” said police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.
The 68-year-old victim decided not to open the door but a window to receive the key.
While trying to open the window, three people outside shot him with bullets hitting him on the thigh.
“Three people outside and two of them were allegedly his own sons. He fortunately managed to call the police and the medical personnel who came to his rescue,” said Mohlala.
He was transported to hospital for medical treatment.
Police confirmed an attempted murder case was opened and the Police at Bushbuckridge immediately began with their investigation which resulted in both suspects (the victim’s sons) arrested hence they are appearing at the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court today, Tuesday 29 November 2022.
The two arrested suspected are facing charges in relation to an attempted murder.
The motive behind the attack is yet to be established.
