Two People Appear in Court for Phala Phala Farm Robbery

Two people have been brought before the Bela-Bela Magistrates’ Court on charges related to the Phala Phala farm robbery. The accused, Imanuwela David and Froliana Joseph, are facing charges that include conspiracy to commit housebreaking with intent to steal and theft, as well as money laundering.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the alleged robbery took place at the farm owned by President Cyril Ramaphosa, where a staggering sum of US$580,000 was stolen. The accused individuals were arrested on Sunday and Monday following an intensive investigation.

It has been revealed that the accused conspired to carry out the robbery at Phala Phala farm between January 1, 2020, and January 8, 2020. Initially, they mistakenly entered Stokkiesdraai farm, believing it to be Phala Phala farm, but no theft was committed. However, the following night, they successfully located and broke into Phala Phala farm, making off with the substantial sum of money.

The case has been adjourned until November 10, 2023, to allow David to secure legal representation and prepare for a formal bail application. As this high-profile case unfolds, the nation waits with bated breath to see justice being served.
