Brutal Murders of Five Men
By Mpho Moloi
Twelve individuals have been arrested in connection with the heinous murders of five young men in Inanda’s Bhambayi area, KwaZulu-Natal. The victims, aged between 19 and 26, were discovered on Friday morning with multiple stab wounds, indicating a brutal attack, possibly involving a bush knife.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the victims were abducted from their homes around midnight before being viciously assaulted. One of the deceased had an arm severed, highlighting the savagery of the crime.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Robert Netshiunda, stated that the suspects are believed to be members of a specific community forum. He added, “The suspects are still being processed. Their details, as well as their first court appearance, will be known in due course. More arrests cannot be ruled out.”
This incident has sent shockwaves through the Inanda community, an area that has grappled with violent crime in recent years. Notably, the “West Gang,” a group of young individuals, has been implicated in numerous violent acts, including over 50 murders in Inanda in 2023 alone. Their reign of terror has left residents living in constant fear.
