The DSTV Premiership match between TS Galaxy and Mamelodi Sundowns has been postponed following a tragic accident that claimed the life of a woman. The incident, which involved the bus of the TS Galaxy team, occurred yesterday while they were en route to Mbombela Stadium for tonight’s showdown, initially scheduled for 7:30 PM.
The Rockets’ team bus collided head-on with a VW Polo on Tuesday afternoon, with the impact causing the car to soar into the air, landing on a rocky outcrop on top of a hill. The lone driver of the VW Polo tragically lost her life upon impact with the ground after her vehicle plummeted from the hill.
An immediate investigation ensued, leading to the postponement of the highly-anticipated match, as confirmed by the Premier Soccer League. In light of this heart-wrenching event, Mr Thami Khuzwayo, the Team Manager of Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club, received communication from the league’s ACEO regarding the situation.
In a poignant letter to Mr Khuzwayo, the essence of the message conveyed was clear:
“Dear All, I attach a copy of the letter the ACEO of the League has just sent to the Chairpersons of each of your clubs. I will communicate further with you regarding an appropriate date for the match as soon as it is appropriate to do so.”
