Written by Carl Niehaus – Good morning comrades, as our ANC branches are now going through this crucial period of convening BGM’s, let me emphasize the following three principles, that can hopefully provide some guidance:

1) One does not support those who have betrayed our cause in the past in the forlorn hope that they will ‘miraculously’ change now. They will not! They will just betray us again.

  1. Our campaign for the radical transformation of the ANC, and regaining its revolutionary heart, must be principled and historically and ideologically sound, so that the Second Phase of our National Democratic Revolution (NDR) can be implemented. We do not need mafias, wheeling and dealing ‘deal makers’, and vote buyers. The ANC is not a poker game, nor a stokvel! We need to be led by principled comrades, who have earned their stripes, and proved themselves to be courageous enough to stand up and be counted and fight for our full liberation.

3) The principle that the branches of the ANC must be allowed – unencumbered and without any attempts to manipulate and influence them – to conclude holding their Branch General Meetings (BGM’s), is sacrosanct and cannot be overemphasized. In terms of the ANC Constitution it is the ANC branches – not any other structure – that decide on their delegates for the ANC National Conference, and the candidates that they want to nominate to be elected onto the ANC NEC. Pronouncements by any other ANC structures (whether Provincial Executive Councils (PEC’s), Regional Executive Councils (REC’s), or whatever other structure for that matter, before all ANC branches have held their BGM’s and expressed their democratic will, is wrong. It goes against the democratic culture of the ANC, and must be condemned. ANC branches should not allow themselves to be influenced by such opportunistic pronouncements.

ONLY PRINCIPLED AND IDEOLOGICALLY SOUND COURAGEOUS LEADERSHIP, WITH A PROVEN TRACK RECORD, UNDERPINNED BY PROPER ORGANIZATIONAL DEMOCRATIC PROCESSES CAN BRING OUR REVOLUTION BACK ON TRACK, AND SAVE OUR BELOVED LIBERATION MOVEMENT.

A LUTA CONTINUA! ✊🏾
