Three Adults Dead, Four Injured in N1 Collision Near Verkeerdevlei

A tragic accident on the N1 near Verkeerdevlei early this morning has left three adults dead and four others injured. Free State Department of Health Spokesperson Sipho Towa confirmed that EMS were activated to respond to the head-on collision at 04:52.

Details of the Collision

The accident involved two light motor vehicles that collided head-on. The collision’s impact was devastating, resulting in the immediate deaths of three adult males on the scene. The severity of the accident necessitated the use of the Jaws of Life to extricate one of the seriously injured individuals.

Injuries and Emergency Response

According to Towa, the injured include:

•   Two adult males who sustained moderate injuries.
•   Two adult males who were seriously injured, one of whom was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated using the Jaws of Life.

The injured individuals were promptly transported to Pelonomi Trauma Unit and Winburg Hospital by EMS and ER24.

Traffic and Road Conditions

Following the accident, the N1 was partially reopened for traffic, with one lane currently in use. Motorists are advised to exercise caution when passing through the area.
