North West Jobs

The North West Provincial Government has taken a significant step towards addressing unemployment in the province by advertising over 160 vacant positions across various provincial departments. According to an official statement, this initiative aims to strengthen the government’s capacity to deliver essential services while opening up opportunities to capable professionals, recent graduates, youth, and women.

North West Premier Lazarus Mokgosi emphasized the importance of this recruitment drive, which began over the past weekend. He noted that the government is focused on creating job opportunities for qualifying unemployed youth and graduates to tackle the ongoing issue of unemployment in the province.

“We are embarking on a developmental trajectory aimed at capacitating the State, and we will see the full implementation of the plans we have set out for ourselves in the seventh administration. But of critical importance is for the government to take a lead in job creation,” Mokgosi explained.

The recruitment effort forms part of a broader strategy by the provincial government to address key economic challenges and support the growth of various sectors. As part of the North West’s growth and developmental strategy, the province is being guided by the newly established Investment and Economic Advisory Council (IEAC), which aims to create more than 100,000 jobs over the next five years.

Premier Mokgosi highlighted that the focus of job creation will be in high-potential sectors such as tourism, agriculture, and construction, which have been identified as key drivers of economic growth in the province.

“The creation of jobs must be a multifaceted approach that includes the private sector. We initiated engagements with various stakeholders on how best we can respond to the astronomical figures of unemployment in the province, and I believe that all our efforts will yield the desired results,” Mokgosi added.

A Broader Effort to Alleviate Unemployment

The Premier’s commitment to job creation is part of a concerted effort by the provincial government to address the broader unemployment crisis that continues to affect a significant portion of the North West’s population. According to recent statistics, unemployment in the North West remains alarmingly high, particularly among the youth.

The vacancies advertised as part of this recruitment drive are a vital step toward alleviating this issue. These positions range across different departments, ensuring that various sectors within the government are adequately staffed to meet the growing demand for public services.

The government’s statement also highlighted the importance of ensuring diversity in hiring, with a particular focus on promoting opportunities for youth and women. This aligns with the provincial government’s goals of inclusivity and equitable growth.

Application Process

The vacant positions have been advertised in both national and provincial newspapers and can also be found on the official websites www.nwpg.gov.za and www.dpsa.gov.za. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply through the provided channels, with applications open to all qualified professionals.

This recruitment drive follows other provincial and national efforts to combat unemployment by creating sustainable job opportunities. In a province where many have struggled with economic uncertainty, this initiative is seen as a critical intervention.

Mokgosi reiterated that the North West Provincial Government remains steadfast in its commitment to reducing unemployment through long-term, sustainable development plans.

“We have to take bold steps as a government to address the needs of our people, and this recruitment drive is just the beginning of what we aim to achieve. With the support of various stakeholders, we are confident that we will see substantial progress in the coming years,” he concluded.
