The Department of Home Affairs has issued a public alert notifying citizens that its services are currently unavailable due to a technical problem on the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) mainframe. This issue is affecting access to the National Population Register (NPR).
In a statement, the department informed the public that they have contacted SITA and received assurance that their technicians and engineers are working diligently to resolve the matter. They hope for a prompt resolution but have not provided a specific timeline for when services will be restored.
The department has vowed to keep the public informed with further updates on the situation.
“We sincerely apologize to citizens and clients for the inconvenience caused,” the department stated.
