The case of the five men accused of setting fire to trucks in Mpumalanga has been postponed until July 27th. The Ermelo Magistrates Court in Mpumalanga has granted them a formal bail application.

During their arrest, three of the accused claimed they were assaulted and requested medical attention, which the court obliged. As a result, Nelson Shongwe, Sibusiso Mthethwa, Fundile Mpondo, Mafika Sibande, and Nkosingiphile Gumede have been remanded in custody.

 

The charges against them involve robbery, malicious damage to property, conspiracy to commit the crime of malicious damage to property, and attempted murder. The police have indicated the possibility of adding additional charges as the investigation progresses.
