THE CARLING KNOCKOUT AND CARLING BLACK LABEL CUP ARE HERE

The Carling Knockout and Carling Cup competitions have finally arrived in South Africa, promising months of exhilarating and engaging football action.

As the official beer partner of the Premier Soccer League (PSL), Carling Black Label, South Africa’s Champion Beer, is proud to bring these innovative competitions to the fans.

Carling Black Label has long been a supporter of South African football, and since the introduction of the Carling Black Label Cup in 2011, the brand has taken fan engagement to new heights.

The voices of the fans have always been at the forefront, and this year’s inaugural Carling Knockout and new format of the Carling Cup are no exception.

All 16 teams in the top flight of South African football will participate in the Carling Knockout tournament, each competing for the coveted Carling Knockout trophy. This tournament will set the stage for the new Carling Black Label Cup, which will be played on January 6th, 2024, at the prestigious Peter Mokaba Stadium.

But what makes this year’s Carling Cup truly special is the inclusion of the fans. The winners of the Carling Knockout tournament will face off against a Carling All-Star team selected by the fans themselves. This unique format brings together players from all the Premier Division clubs and the Diski Challenge sides, allowing fans to see their favorite stars playing together on one team.

In addition to selecting the players for the Carling All-Star team, fans also have the opportunity to vote for the coach of the team. This Fantasy Soccer-like experience turns the Carling Cup into a reality for the fans.

One of the most exciting innovations in this year’s tournaments is the Fak’iGoal Uzobona. Aimed at bringing more excitement and earlier goals to the game, Fak’iGoal Uzobona translates to “Score a Goal & See.” At the start of each match, there will be 90 minutes and R90,000 on the clock. For each passing minute, R1,000 will be deducted from the total prize money, counting down to zero at the end of the game.

But here’s the twist: one lucky fan who correctly predicts both the team and the minute of the first goal will win the remaining money on the clock. And not only that, but the team that scores the goal will also receive the amount on the clock. So, the earlier the goal, the more everyone wins!

But the excitement doesn’t end there. Fans also have the incredible opportunity to vote for the Man of the Match during each game. The players who win the Man of the Match award will walk away with a hefty R100,000 cheque, making it one of the biggest awards of its kind on the continent. And the best part? Fans don’t even need to purchase a beer to participate in the voting.

At Carling Black Label, their commitment has always been to champion the game of football and empower the voices of the fans. The 2023 Carling Knockout and Carling Cup tournaments offer a truly immersive experience for fans, whether they’re watching from the stands or from the comfort of their own homes. Carling Black Label understands the importance of giving fans a voice when it comes to the beautiful game.

Arné Rust, the brand director of Carling Black Label, said, “We want to empower our fans to have their voices heard like never before. This year, fans have even more power by being able to vote for their Carling All-Star team, the coach of their team, and the Man of the Match at each game. We also believe in giving back to our fans, so we have lots of prizes up for grabs whenever you buy Black Label or even just vote in the campaign. We’re also innovating with Fak’iGoal Uzobona, rewarding fans who know their stuff and keeping everyone on the edge of their seats.”

The voting for the Carling All-Star team will begin on October 13th and run until December 21st, 2023. Fans can vote for their favorite players by purchasing select Carling Black Label beer, dialing *120*660#, and following the on-screen prompts to cast their votes via USSD. Fans can also vote on the official website, www.carlingblacklabelcup.co.za. Voting for the Carling All-Stars will close on December 20th, 2023. Terms and conditions apply.
