Thabo Mbeki Foundation Launches ‘African Renaissance Podcast’ Hosted by Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi: Bold Ideas for Africa’s Renewal Every Monday

Sandton – The Thabo Mbeki Foundation has unveiled its latest project to spark change across the continent: the “African Renaissance Podcast.” Set to launch on Monday, 27 October 2025, the show will be hosted by the energetic Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, a well-known voice in South African politics and thought leadership.

The foundation says this podcast is a key tool in their mission to push forward Africa’s growth, tackling big issues in society, politics, and the economy. With new episodes dropping every Monday at 15:00 SAST, it promises sharp talks, fresh views, and real ways to build a better future for African people. This comes as the foundation keeps working to honour former President Thabo Mbeki’s vision of an African Renaissance – a time of renewal and self-reliance for the continent.

The launch was announced on Thursday, 24 October 2025, in a statement that highlights how the podcast will flip old stories and inspire a new wave of leaders. It’s all about turning talk into action, making sure Africa’s voices lead the way in solving its own challenges.

Podcast Details: Weekly Doses of Inspiration and Critique

The first episode airs on 27 October 2025, with fresh ones every Monday after that. Listeners can tune in on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcast, and other big platforms. The foundation urges people to subscribe now to get alerts for new shows.

Max Boqwana, CEO of the Thabo Mbeki Foundation, explained the podcast’s goal: “This podcast is a critical tool in our mission to advance the African Renaissance. It is a platform to overturn the colonial corrosion of the African psyche and champion the self-sufficiency, dignity, and prosperity of the African people. This is a small part of our commitment to a truth-telling, understating the harms of history and commitment to a continent that is free and non-humiliating.”

The show will mix formats to keep things lively: one-on-one chats with key figures, panel talks on hot topics, expert classes on big ideas, and deep dives with Thabo Mbeki himself. Expect 60-minute episodes that dig into Africa’s past, present, and future, with a focus on turning critique into real change.

Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi: A Dynamic Host for Tough Conversations

Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, an EFF Member of Parliament and academic, brings his sharp mind and passion for African issues to the mic. Known for his strong views on decolonisation and social justice, Ndlozi is a perfect fit to lead talks that challenge old ways and push for renewal. His background in politics and education means he can break down complex topics in ways that hit home for everyday people.

The foundation picked Ndlozi as their new Senior Fellow to host, saying his energy will drive “incisive and transformative conversations that resonate across the continent and the diaspora.” With his track record in public speaking and debates, expect episodes that do not shy away from tough questions.

Thabo Mbeki Foundation: Driving Africa’s Renaissance

The Thabo Mbeki Foundation, started in 2010, works to keep alive the idea of an African Renaissance – a vision of a strong, united continent led by its own people. Dedicated to former President Thabo Mbeki, seen as a key thinker in this movement, the foundation runs programs on leadership, peace, and growth. It brings together thinkers, leaders, and young people to tackle Africa’s challenges and celebrate its wins.
From their base in Houghton, Johannesburg, they host events, talks, and now this podcast to inspire action. Recent highlights include the “African Renaissance: Re-Imagining the Promise” exhibition, where Mbeki himself joined to engage with visitors on themes of change and hope.

The foundation’s work goes beyond talks – it pushes for better policies, supports young leaders, and builds ties across Africa and the world. As Boqwana put it, the podcast is part of overturning old harms and building pride in African stories.

How to Tune In and Why It Matters

Head to the Thabo Mbeki Foundation’s YouTube channel or search “African Renaissance Podcast” on Spotify and Apple Podcast to subscribe. Episodes will cover everything from politics and culture to economy and history, with guests who know Africa inside out.

This launch is timely as Africa faces big shifts – from youth-led changes to global challenges like climate and trade. By grounding talks in critique and solutions, the podcast aims to fire up a new generation to lead. As the foundation says, it’s about “constructive criticism and the search for innovative and sustainable solutions for the continent.”

For South Africans and Africans everywhere, this is a chance to join conversations that matter. With Ndlozi at the helm and Mbeki’s wisdom guiding it, the African Renaissance Podcast could become a go-to for ideas that drive real progress. Mark your calendars for Monday – Africa’s renewal starts with listening and acting.
