Texas governor Greg Abbot has accused South Africans of entering the United States illegally.
In a tweet on Sunday, the Republican governor said the fact that US President Joe Biden banned travel from South Africa, due to the new Covid-19 variant, has done nothing to stop South Africans from entering that country illegally.

His comments come as travel bans have been imposed on South Africa and a number of countries in the southern Africa region.
However, social media has slammed the governer for his accusation.
The United States, Brazil, Canada, and Saudi Arabia were amongst the first countries to restrict travel from southern Africa on Friday.
Although the new Covid strain has been labelled a “variant of concern”, the World Health Organisation says travel restrictions may slightly reduce the spread of Covid-19 but it places an even greater burden on livelihoods.
Meanwhile President Cyril Ramaphosa has slammed the travel bans imposed on SA calling them “unjustified and discriminatory”.
Addressing the nation on Sunday night the president added that a task will look into mandatory vaccines in SA.
“A task team will look at the possibility of mandatory vaccinations for access to workplace, public events. The introduction of such a measures complicated but if we do not treat it with urgency then will continue to be plagued by further waves.” @JacarandaNews
