Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says that the Mamelodi Sundowns supporters have displayed the highest form of self-hate after they were seen in a video footage insulting Al Ahly Coach Pitso Mosimane.

This is after the CAF Champions League match at the Lucas Moripe stadium between Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly on Saturday, 22 May 2021.

“The Sundowns has shown the highest form of self-hate horrendous to watch; worse Pitso Mosimane’s mother was dragged into verbal assault that was obviously premeditated to bring Mosimane,” said EFF National Spokesperson Vuyani Pambo.

The EFF says Mosimane does not owe Sundowns anything, he built Sundowns and won all possible trophies. The South African political party says that Sundowns supporters were suppose to celebrate Coach Mosimane.

“In sports code that never gives black coaches room to strive Pitso Mosimane has managed to achieve the unthinkable from the dusty streets of South Africa to the best coach in Africa,” said Pambo.

The EFF has called on the South African Football Association (SAFA) and CAF to fine Mamelodi Sundowns and their supporters.

“It is worse for a team like Mamelodi Sundowns to drag Mosimane when their very own former President of Sundowns Patrice Motsepe is meant to bring unity and cohesion in the sport as President of the Confederation of African Football,” said Pambo.

The EFF has promised to write to the SAFA and CAF, as they will be demanding appropriate action be taken against Sundowns.

Mamelodi Sundowns were knocked out of the CAF Champions League following a 1-1 draw with Al Ahly at the Lucas Moripe stadium, losing the tie 3-1 on aggregate.
