Steve Komphela Appointed as New Head Coach of Swallows FC

Lamontville Golden Arrows have confirmed the appointment of Steve Komphela as their head coach. Komphela, a familiar face at the Durban-based club, makes his return following the recent dismissal of Mabhuti Khenyeza.

“Lamontville Golden Arrows welcomes back Coach Steve Komphela, who is no stranger to the club’s values and culture,” said a club spokesperson, as they prepare to navigate through the rest of the season sitting at a precarious 12th in the league.

Komphela’s return to Arrows comes on the back of a difficult period at his previous club, Moroka Swallows FC. The uncertainty surrounding the Dube Birds’ finances became public knowledge after Komphela departed the club last month. Prior to his exit, he experienced a challenging spell with Moroka Swallows, being suspended and replaced on an interim basis by Musa Nyatama.

His move back to Golden Arrows also follows the club’s unexpected dip in form. Despite a promising start that saw them climb to second on the Premier Soccer League (PSL) log early in the season, Arrows have since struggled to maintain their momentum, amassing 23 points from 19 matches.
