South African Youth Council in Free State would like to congratulate Young Communist League of South Africa in the Free State on their successful Provincial Congress held over this weekend, without any doubt, YCLSA continuous to prove that there is still a promising future for South Africa, given their behaviour and no ill-incident reported during this Congress compared to other organizations that we see today.

They held a Congress under the theme “Positioning the youth from working class background at the centre. To reject neoliberal agenda against people’s power.” And we hope the elected leadership with the support of other youth formations will put this in action and move away from being theorists as young people but become more of praxis.

It is very vital for all youth formations to renew their mandate in order to revive the militancy and take young people into confidence during this sad state we found ourselves in as young people in the province, given the challenges we are faced with and mostly the issue of unemployment amongst them.

YCLSA as an affiliate of SAYC, we say congratulations to the elected leadership as led by Provincial Secretary Junior Lehlehla and we hope to continue with smooth and progressive working relations we have with the YCLSA FS!

We also want to raise a concern and to condemn as an umbrella body of all the youth organizations in the province this new trending foreign tendency of creating parallel structures within the youth organizations, this gives us a problem in doing our work since we need to engage on appointing the regional task teams of SAYC in the province.

This also has an element of further deepening the crisis we as young people have, because our failure to unite and work together, means we will have to use our energy unnecessarily fighting against each other instead of championing the interests of young people in the province.

We therefore call for unity amongst all young people in the ANCYL during this era of renewing and rebuilding their organization, they must remember that we are stronger when we are together and for that, they need to find a best way of dealing with their differences than the one we are experiencing now.

Lastly, we want to wish all the Youth Organizations in the Free State a fruitful and thorough engaging YOUTH PARLIAMENT which will start today and end tomorrow, young people MUST without any fear or favour engage robustly on how we want to see this province to be.

SAYC FS also has sent its delegation to the parliament and we hope all parties will have a smooth one and wish to say “Thank you” to Office of the Speaker Hon. N Sefuba for the opportunity granted to young people of the province to go and shape their future and for the invite to South African Youth Council FS.
Issued on behalf of South African Youth Council FS……………..
