Six Wanted Criminals Dead, Three Arrested in Police Shootout in Inanda

Six Wanted Suspects Fatally Shot in Inanda Shootout

In a dramatic early morning police operation in Inanda, north of Durban, six wanted fugitives were shot and killed during a confrontation with law enforcement. The operation was executed on Thursday morning.

KZN police spokesperson, Jay Naicker, provided details about the operation, “After gathering actionable intelligence about the location of these criminals, the police were led to a residence in Emachobeni, Inanda. These individuals were involved in several serious crimes including home invasions, murders, business robberies, and carjackings.”

Upon reaching the location, the police announced their arrival, which was met with a barrage of gunfire from the suspects. In an act of self-defense and in line with their duty, the officers returned fire. Following the gunfight, six criminals were found dead from gunshot wounds.

Moreover, three additional suspects were apprehended, including two males and a 31-year-old female. During the operation, one officer sustained a minor bullet wound to the hand.

The police also recovered two rifles, a shotgun, and a vehicle reported stolen in KwaDabeka in December 2023 from the scene. “The detained suspects will be introduced in court soon for their alleged involvement in these grave crimes,” Naicker further informed.
