The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) regional chairperson and member of the mayoral committee (MMC) in Metsimaholo Local Municipality, Councillor April Motaung is expected to hand over 1604 title deeds to Metsimaholo beneficiaries from Thursday, 19 to Monday, 23 October at Harry GwalaMultipurpose Centre in Zamdela.
This is a department of human settlement initiative that will see other beneficiaries from other towns receiving their title deeds as well. Motaung confirmed that this is allocated for Sasolburg, Deneysville and Oranjeville beneficiaries.
The program that will benefit older persons and young people is expected to start at 09:00 in the morning.
With the motto that says ‘Our Land and Jobs manje, the EFF regional leader Motaung has also shared his ambitious plan of allocating residential stands for Sasolburg, Deneysville and Oranjeville on 02 November 2023.
As part of his 100 days plan of action in office, Motaung has recently hosted Public Consultative Meetings that were used to engage with Metsimaholo residents on Sunday.
Motaung praised residents for their strategic ideas and solutions for his portfolio.
With the support of the EFF Provincial Secretary MalefaneBosanku Msimanga, his series of Public Consultative meetings were held in Zamdela, Deneysville and Oranjeville on Sunday, 15 October, as part of the 100 days plan of action in office.
He engaged with community members at Zamdela Municipal Offices (Next to Sonny’s Garage) at 09:00, RefengkgotsoCommunity Hall-Deneysville at 12:00 and Metsimaholo Community Hall-Oranjeville at 15:00.
“I am very happy to have received fresh views and new ideas directly from communities of Metsimaholo through today’s Public Consultative Meetings of my Human Settlements Department,” said Motaung.
Amongst other issues that were raised by concerned residents relate to urgent residential sites, RDP houses and job creation by the Human Settlement Office.
Speaking to Central News, other frustrated residents complained about incomplete RDP houses that are still at the roofing, wall plate and foundation phases.
“We hope that the EFF will address our issues of housing. Re hloka lefatshe [We need land], my brother,” said frustrated resident Nomvula Tsolo.
Motaung has revealed that his department was disappointed to hear that residents still struggling with incomplete houses.
Speaking to Central News, Motaung said the issue of incomplete houses was one of his sore points.
