SAPS Rescue Kidnapped Pakistani Businessman in Sebokeng Operation

On Monday, 23 December 2024, the South African Police Service (SAPS) successfully rescued a Pakistani businessman who had been kidnapped over two months prior. The operation, conducted in Sebokeng, also led to the arrest of a 46-year-old female suspect on charges of murder and kidnapping.

Kidnapping Details

The businessman was abducted in Lenasia by three African males driving a BMW X5. Following the kidnapping, the perpetrators demanded a ransom for his release. 

Rescue Operation

The rescue operation was a collaborative effort involving multiple SAPS units, including the Kidnapping Team, Crime Intelligence, Gauteng Hostage and Negotiation team, Germiston Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), Sedibeng Search and Rescue, SAPS Lenasia, and SAPS Evaton. Acting on gathered intelligence, the team identified a property in Sebokeng where the victim was being held. Upon searching the premises, they found the businessman in one of the rooms. Tragically, the body of an unidentified African male was also discovered on the property. The female suspect present at the scene was arrested. 

Ongoing Investigations

The SAPS has not yet disclosed the identities of the suspects or the victim, as investigations are ongoing. Authorities are working to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the kidnapping and to determine the circumstances surrounding the deceased individual found at the scene.
