In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves across the country, heavily armed guards from the SAPS VIP or Presidential Protection Unit were captured on video assaulting unarmed motorists on N1 Fourways.

The incident, which has been widely shared on various media platforms, has prompted the SAPS management to launch an internal investigation.
The video clip shows the victims allegedly being assaulted by members of the SAPS. As the footage circulates, efforts are underway to trace the victims and obtain statements from them. This is a crucial step towards bringing justice to those affected and holding those responsible accountable.
Gen Masemola has condemned the behaviour of these members. “Members of the #SAPS are meant to uphold and protect the fundamental rights of every person and exercise the powers conferred upon them in a responsible and controlled manner. Such action cannot be condoned regardless of the circumstance,” said Gen Fannie Masemola.
