SANCO no longer recognise Nthabiseng Dyoyi as Deputy Provincial Coordinator

By Thys Khiba

On Saturday, 21 October, the South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) Regional Task Team (RTT) in Mangaung has announced they are no longer recognising Nthabiseng Dyoyi as the Sanco Deputy Provincial Coordinator in the Free State.

This comes after the civic organisation accused Dyoyi of being associated with what they call ‘anti-revolutionaries whom everything to them is about power and positions.’

Sanco has accused the African Congress for Transformation (ACT) members of lacking organisational discipline.

Sanco regional spokesperson Thamsanqa Milela said the civic organisation is distancing itself from anyone who is a member of any political party that is anti-African National Congress (ANC).

In this instance, Milela has referred to Dyoyi as a member of the newly launched political party of former ANC Secretary General Ace Magashule called ACT.

SANCO in Mangaung would like to distance itself from anyone who is a member of any political organization that is anti-ANC, we have for the longest time been in alliance with the ANC led alliance together with SACP and COSATU.

It will therefore mean we are now inconsistent in our approach if we would allow anyone to join an opposition party and still be with us, especially the Official in an upper structure,” said Milela.

Meanwhile, the civic organisation constitution allows their members to affiliate with any political party. Their affiliation is not limited to the ANC, SACP and COSATU only.

The RTT in Mangaung claimed that in 1992, Sanco took a decision to fully be in alliance with the ANC led Alliance.

Sanco has sent a warning to supporters and defenders of Dyoyi, and encouraged them to join the ACT.

While they are divided by on the subject of political affiliation, Milela said the regional and provincial unity of Sanco is important.

“… we will never achieve all the necessary steps and goals towards unity in the Free State if we still have such rouge elements within SANCO!

To support their argument, the RTT said the tripartite discussions of unity were initiated by the parties that are known to be supporters of the ANC, namely SACP and COSATU in Free State.

“So it would be an earnest contradiction if we allow us to be having leaders who are taking such bold and progress move by our alliance partners for granted, as the main objective in uniting SANCO was to make a strong alliance towards 2024 General Elections.

At the time of publishing this article Central News could not get a comment from Dyoyi.

Meanwhile, the ANC in the Lejweleputswa Region expelled its members for joining the ACT.

Regional Chairperson, Xolile Toki, confirmed among the expelled members of the ruling party are former mayors, members of mayoral committees, speakers, deputy regional chairpersons, and the former regional secretary.

“As the Regional Executive Committee, we have noticed there are members who defected to other political parties. We have engaged with our structures formally to identify people who have not resigned from the ANC and chose to defect.”

Toki said an ANC ward councillor of the Nala Local Municipality, Sootho Tau was expelled and found guilty on seven of eight counts of misconduct after numerous attempts to reprimand and correct his behaviour towards the ANC.
