Popular South African Gospel and ZCC artist, Dr. Kenny Makweng, has passed away after being hospitalized for a stroke. The news was confirmed in a statement released by his record label, KennyMak Productions, today.
The statement expressed the deep sadness of the label and announced that details of the memorial service and funeral arrangements will be shared in due course as per the family’s instructions. The family has requested privacy during this difficult time and asked for prayers for Dr. Kenny Makweng’s loved ones.
Dr. Kenny Makweng had a successful career spanning over 20 years, during which he collaborated with other well-known gospel artists. He was known for his work with Mojeremane, Oleseng Shuping, and Winnie Mashaba.
Eff Member of Parliament and Kwaito legend, Eugene Mthethwa, had previously called for prayers for Dr. Kenny Makweng on social media, describing him as a ZCC Gospel singer who had recently obtained his BA degree. He had urged fellow artists and fans to pray for a miraculous recovery.
The news of Dr. Kenny Makweng’s passing has saddened his fans, friends, and fellow artists across South Africa. He will be remembered for his contributions to the gospel music industry and his impact on the community.
