The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has launched a thorough investigation into a tragic bus accident that occurred late Tuesday night on the N1 in Makhado, Limpopo, resulting in the loss of 10 lives and leaving three others seriously injured. The accident took place around 11:50 pm when the bus, traveling from Zimbabwe to Johannesburg, overturned after the driver allegedly failed to navigate a traffic circle.

Details of the Crash

According to preliminary reports, the bus driver, who was allegedly speeding, lost control of the vehicle at the traffic circle. The bus, which was carrying passengers primarily from Zimbabwe, overturned while heading southbound on the N1. The deceased passengers are all believed to be foreign nationals, adding a layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation and subsequent processes.

“The RTMC expresses deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who tragically lost their lives in this incident and wishes a speedy recovery to those who are currently hospitalised with injuries,” the corporation said in an official statement.
