President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to deliver the keynote address at the Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium South Africa (SIDSSA) 2025, scheduled to take place from 25 to 27 May at the Century City Conference Centre in Cape Town. The symposium, hosted by Infrastructure South Africa (ISA), aims to showcase infrastructure investment opportunities in South Africa and across the African continent.
This year’s SIDSSA marks the first under South Africa’s 7th administration and will be anchored by the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson. The event is expected to bring together key stakeholders, experts, and decision-makers in the field of infrastructure development.
ISA has announced that the symposium will feature several significant milestones:
• The announcement of new Top 12 Infrastructure Project Priorities stemming from the Bid Window 1 for Project Preparation.
• The release of the second edition of the Construction Book, a repository of funded infrastructure projects going into procurement in the 2025/2026 financial year.
• A Leaders Forum, gathering South African Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Premiers, and Infrastructure MECs, along with invited Ministers from the continent.
• The signing of memoranda of understanding with key partners and stakeholders committing resources to advancing infrastructure delivery.
The symposium will also provide updates on gazetted Strategic Integrated Projects, projects receiving project preparation support, and the infrastructure fund project pipeline.
In a statement, Infrastructure South Africa noted: “This instalment of the SIDSSA is the first of the 7th administration and will aim to, inter alia, showcase infrastructure investment opportunities in both South Africa and the African continent. It is the intention of the symposium to foster regional cooperation and integration as envisaged by the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa.”
To this end, the symposium has attracted Infrastructure Ministers from nine countries: Uganda, Ghana, Kingdom of Swaziland, Kingdom of Lesotho, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Namibia, Zambia, and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, with additional confirmations pending.
Ahead of the symposium, delegates will conduct a site visit to the Potsdam Water Treatment Plant.
