President Ramaphosa has expressed serious concerns about the possibility of war with Russia following the arrest of President Vladimir Putin during the BRICS Summit in August.
These concerns came to light in an affidavit filed by Ramaphosa in response to a court application from the DA, which aimed to secure the arrest of Putin during the summit.
President Ramaphosa fears that Russia could declare war on South Africa.
This is revealed in the President’s answering affidavit to the DA’s court bid to ensure Russian President Vladimir Putin is arrested during the BRICS summit.

Ramaphosa said Russia made it clear that arresting its sitting President would be a declaration of war.
“It would be inconsistent with our Constitution to risk engaging in war with Russia. I have constitutional obligations to protect the national sovereignty, peace and security of the Republic, and to respect, protect, promote and fulfil the rights of the people of the Republic to life, safety and security. among other rights in the Bill of Right” said President Ramaphosa.
The Gauteng High Court, presided by Deputy Judge President Judge Roland Sutherland, ruled in favor of the DA and ordered that Ramaphosa make the documents public by 2 pm today. Responding to the court’s decision, Ramaphosa welcomed the ruling and acknowledged the importance of transparency in this matter.
The Presidency clarified that Ramaphosa had never been opposed to making the affidavits public. The decision to maintain confidentiality was made in compliance with an ICC directive. Now, with the court ruling, the affidavits related to the ICC warrant matter will be made available to the public.
