Public Service and Administration Minister, Inkosi Mzamo Buthelezi, is set to visit Etwatwa in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality on Tuesday, 20 August, where he will oversee the handover of title deeds to local residents. This visit forms part of the broader efforts under the Presidential District Development Model (DDM) Imbizo, which aims to enhance service delivery across the country.

The Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) highlighted that this initiative, scheduled for 23 August 2024, is a collaborative effort involving various national, provincial, and local government departments. “This initiative is supported by various national, provincial, and local departments, aligning with the Presidential District Development Model (DDM) Imbizo scheduled for 23 August 2024,” said the DPSA in a statement.

During his visit, Minister Buthelezi will also inspect service delivery sites, ensuring that essential services are accessible to the community. “On this day, community members will have access to essential services, including those offered by the Department of Home Affairs and the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA),” the DPSA confirmed.

The visit is strategically aligned with President Cyril Ramaphosa’s upcoming Presidential District Development Model (DDM) Imbizo in Ekurhuleni, which will be held on Friday, 23 August. The Imbizo, which is the first under the seventh administration, seeks to foster better coordination among government spheres to address local challenges more effectively.

In a media briefing earlier this month, Presidential Spokesperson Vincent Magwenya emphasized the importance of the DDM in improving government coordination. “This is an important initiative to improve planning, budgeting, and implementation at a local level by bringing all spheres, departments, and stakeholders together, towards uplifting our communities,” Magwenya stated.
