CONSUMERS REQUESTED TO TAKE PART IN THE TID ROLL-OVER PROCESS
The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) is continuing with the compulsory migration of the prepaid vending system, better know as the Token Identity (TID) Rollover from STS Edition 1 to the new STS Edition 2 software.
The current software on all pre-paid meters in Emfuleni and South Africa will expire in November 2024. Provided that your meter is not updated before the deadline, you will not be able to recharge your prepaid meter with the new tokens and as a result, you will not have power.
The TID Rollover project kicked off as a pilot on Sunday, 1st October 2023, to assess how the meters handle the conversion. ELM uses two Supply Group Codes (SGC) for meter installations. SGC 000297 has 14 000 meters and SGC 000394 has over 50 000 meters currently in operation.
To expedite the software update (TID roll-over) and in order to ensure no consumer is placed at risk of having a non-working meter, the municipality will continue to implement the key change process with the issue of a separate, extra token when SGC 00297consumers make their next purchase from Tuesday, 7th November 2023.
The TID project will be extended to SGC 00394 consumers, with roll-over dates shared on ELM social media platforms, website and local media. With just 12 months left until 24 November 2024, consumers are encouraged to keep up with municipal communications about TID Rollover project to avoid being left without electricity on the deadline date.
Consumers are further advised not to panic as the schedule has been mapped out for the project to be completed before the deadline. This will afford the municipality enough time to deal with any problems before the November 2024 deadline.
