Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi
The late founder and President Emeritus of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and Traditional Prime Minister of the Zulu Nation, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, will be bid a final farewell on Friday, 15th September.
The announcement was made by the Buthelezi family following a short meeting on Sunday. As the nation mourns the loss of an influential figure, preparations are now underway to honor his legacy through a dignified funeral ceremony.
Acknowledging the profound impact this loss has on the province and the country, the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government urgently engaged in discussions with the Presidency to ensure a befitting send-off for the late statesman. “The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal Nomusa Dube-Ncube has confirmed that there is ongoing communication with the Presidency on the funeral arrangements,” stated the government.
Adding further, “The funeral service and associated ceremonial logistics will be communicated in due course, allowing the nation to pay their respects appropriately.”
Born on August 27, 1928, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi dedicated his life to serving the people of South Africa. Known for his unwavering commitment to freedom and democracy, he played a pivotal role in shaping the political landscape of the country. Building the IFP from the ground up, Buthelezi tirelessly championed the rights of marginalized communities, working towards inclusivity and racial harmony.
Heartfelt tributes have since poured in from across the globe, celebrating Buthelezi’s tireless efforts in promoting peace and reconciliation.
