President Ramaphosa to Deliver Key Address at #ANC112 Anniversary Rally and January 8th Statement on Saturday
On Saturday, January 13, 2024, President Cyril Ramaphosa of the African National Congress (ANC) is set to deliver an address at the #ANC112 Anniversary Rally and January 8th Statement at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga. This annual event commemorates the founding of the ANC and serves as an opportunity for the party to outline its priorities and plans for the year ahead.
President Ramaphosa’s speech is expected to focus on several key areas, including economic development, job creation, and addressing issues of unemployment, inequality, and poverty. Additionally, the ongoing energy crisis and the need for investment in infrastructure development to stimulate economic growth are likely to be central themes.
In the face of challenges facing South Africa, the ANC’s approach to combating corruption and improving governance is also expected to be highlighted in the January 8th statement. The party will outline its plans for strengthening state institutions, holding government officials accountable, and promoting transparency and good governance.
Furthermore, the ANC is anticipated to reaffirm its commitment to democracy, human rights, and social justice, with a focus on promoting effective and responsive governance in the lead-up to the 2024 national government elections. President Ramaphosa’s speech is expected to emphasize the importance of unity within the party and inclusive decision-making processes, as well as rally support for the ANC in the upcoming political challenges.
As part of the build-up to the event, the ANC national leadership, along with the provincial leadership, has been engaging with the people of Mpumalanga through various programs addressing various sectors, including youth, business, and women. This culminates in a Presidential Gala Dinner on Friday at 5pm.
ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula has stated that this year’s January 8th statement will focus on crime, corruption, and the ongoing electricity crisis. President Ramaphosa is expected to share the successes of the party’s 30-year tenure in government and to appeal to the country to give the ANC one more chance in the approaching national elections.
