PRETORIA – President Cyril Ramaphosa has underlined his commitment to peace in Sudan by welcoming a comprehensive briefing from the Vice President of the Transitional Sovereign Council of the Republic of Sudan, Malik Agar Eyre Nganyoufa, at the Union Buildings on Sunday.
In what was a significant diplomatic engagement, the purpose of the meeting served as an opportunity for Vice President Nganyoufa to apprise President Ramaphosa of the ongoing efforts to restore peace in the conflict-ridden nation of Sudan.

“President Ramaphosa welcomed the briefing and expressed South Africa’s support for dialogue between the warring factions. The President further reiterated the call for an immediate ceasefire that will alleviate the suffering and humanitarian catastrophe facing the Sudanese people, especially women and children,” stated the Presidency.
The South African head of state’s call for an immediate cessation of hostilities highlights the urgent need for stability in Sudan. The region has been plagued by violence and chaos, exacerbating the plight of vulnerable populations.
“President Ramaphosa looks forward to meeting with General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council,” the Presidency added, indicating a continuing engagement at the highest level in the efforts to assist Sudan in navigating its way to peace.
