President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa has extended his congratulations to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on his re-election as president of the Arab Republic of Egypt. According to the Egypt’s National Elections Authority, El-Sisi secured his third term in office after receiving an impressive 89.6% of the votes during the country’s recent elections.

President Ramaphosa not only congratulated El-Sisi but also commended the other candidates for participating in the elections in a gracious and commendable manner. He emphasized that the elections were a reflection of the will of the people of Egypt in shaping their future, and he also praised the National Election Authority of Egypt and all national stakeholders for their collaborative efforts in ensuring a conducive environment for the elections.

The South African government has expressed a keen interest in strengthening ties between the two countries. President Ramaphosa reiterated the government’s commitment to working with the government and people of Egypt for the mutual benefit of both nations. The statement from the Presidency also highlighted the importance of building strong people-to-people ties and collaborating on the African Agenda, emphasizing the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries.

South Africa and Egypt have a long history of cordial relations, rooted in strong historical and fraternal bonds dating back to the era of the liberation struggle. Egypt has been a strategic partner that supported the liberation struggle in South Africa, and the two countries continue to work together on matters of mutual interest and benefit.
