Luanda, Republic of Angola – President Cyril Ramaphosa has arrived in Luanda to participate in a summit of Southern African leaders focused on the sustainable industrialization of the region.
The 43rd Ordinary Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) is set to address the key drivers for sustainable industrialization in the SADC region, namely human and financial capital.

President Ramaphosa, joined by Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Dr Naledi Pandor, Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Thandi Modise, and Minister in the Presidency responsible for State Security, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, will be engaging in discussions surrounding the political and security situation in the region.
Particular attention will be given to the Kingdom of Lesotho, Kingdom of Eswatini, Mozambique (SADC Mission in Mozambique), and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
As the outgoing Chairperson of the SADC Organ, President Ramaphosa will also attend the Troika Summit of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, where consolidation of democracy in the SADC region will be a key topic of discussion.
In addition to these important discussions, the summit will also include various activities such as the announcement of the 2022 SADC Secondary School Essay Competition, the Media Awards, and the presentation of the Medal of Honour to Sir Seretse Khama, one of the founders of SADC and the late first President of the Republic of Botswana.
The summit is expected to strengthen regional cooperation and promote sustainable industrialization as a means to drive economic growth and development in the Southern African region.
