PREMIER SISI NTOMBELA HOSTS GBVF DIALOGUE WITH OLDER PERSONS

The Premier of the Free State, Sisi Ntombela will today host the Gender Based Violence and Femicide dialogue with older persons.

The dialogue is aimed at highlighting the challenges that the aged are facing. This dialogue will then culminate into a responsive government engagement.

Over 500 older persons are expected to the attend the dialogue wherein the Premier will be honoring two elderly women who are 110 years old. “We have seen GBV cases wherein our elderly, are abused, raped and killed in some instances.

The dialogue will help us as government to understand the extent of the problem and come up with solutions. We need to protect our mothers and fathers who cannot defend themselves against perpetrators of violence”, said Premier Ntombela.

The dialogue comes a week before the official launch of the 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence which commences on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of violence against Women and ends on 10 December, the Human Rights Day.
