Following a meeting with mine, Minister for Mineral Resources, Gwede Mantashe and Mayor of Kopanong Municipality, Xolani Tseletsele also joined EXCO at Sandstone Estate.
The minister’s visit came only a day after President Cyril Ramaphosa also visited the place to see for himself the horror which unfolded in Jagersfontein.
The Premier was joined by MECs Mxolisi Dukwana, Tshidi Koloi, Mamiki Qabathe and Director General Kopung Ralikontsane. The caring government donated blankets, food, dignity packs and clothes to the people today.

The tragedy that devastated Jagersfontein has caused massive damage. That is why, soon after learning of this disaster, government rolled up it’s sleeves and worked around the clock to ensure that the people were taken care of.
The Premier also expressed her appreciation for her executive particularly, MEC Mxolosi Dukwana and MEC Mamiki Qabathe for their hard work. we appeal to our people to exercise patience and allow government to complete its work.
“What we do not want to see happen is houses being rebuilt on unsuitable land. We also need to allow our health professionals to conduct the necessary tests to avoid possible inhalation of toxic air laced with harmful chemicals” MEC Dukwana
Another encouraging update is that the missing lady has been found alive. She is currently in hospital under the care of medical professionals and we wish her a speedy discovery.
