Missing Palesa Eunice Mokete
By Sello Masilo
Fouriesburg – The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Fouriesburg has issued an urgent appeal to the public for assistance in locating 14-year-old Palesa Eunice Mokete, who has been missing since 5 September 2024. The police are working diligently on the case, but they need help from the community to gather more information that could lead to finding the young girl.
According to police reports, Palesa’s mother informed the police that her daughter went missing after school on 5 September 2024. At approximately 14:25, Palesa returned home and informed her mother that her hat had been stolen while she was at school. She then mentioned that she intended to return to school to search for the missing item. However, Palesa never came back, and her whereabouts remain unknown.
Sergeant Sinah Mpakane, the spokesperson for the Fouriesburg SAPS, stated that the family began to worry when Palesa failed to return home by the evening. After their attempts to locate her were unsuccessful, a missing person case was officially opened in the early hours of 6 September 2024 at around 02:00.
“On 6 September 2024 at about 02:00, a case of a missing person was registered. Palesa Eunice Mokete was last seen on the R26 Road heading towards Ficksburg. She told her classmate that she was going to her grandparents in Bloemfontein, but she never arrived in Bloemfontein,” said Sergeant Mpakane.
Community Urged to Assist with Information
As the search intensifies, police are urging anyone who may have seen Palesa or has any information that could assist in locating her to come forward. The case is being handled by Investigating Officer Warrant Officer Dexter of the Fouriesburg SAPS, who is working closely with Palesa’s family and local authorities.
Police suspect that Palesa may have attempted to travel towards Bloemfontein, but no confirmation has been made about her actual whereabouts. The possibility of foul play cannot be ruled out, and the authorities are appealing to anyone who might have seen her on or near the R26 Road on the day she disappeared to contact the police immediately.
“Anyone with information that can assist in finding the missing Palesa Eunice Mokete is requested to contact Investigating Officer W/O Dexter of Fouriesburg SAPS on 082 466 7649 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111. Alternatively, you can use the MySAPS app to send information,” urged Sergeant Mpakane.
