The Free State police made two arrests in Bloemfontein with cash and a fake Kruger Rand coin. The two men, aged 38 and 45, were taken into custody on suspicion of fraud, forgery, utterance, and violating the Identification Act.

According to the police, on June 8, 2023, around 11:40 am., members of the Bloemfontein Flying Squad investigated information regarding two suspects who were allegedly attempting to sell Kruger Rand coins at the Towers Shopping Centre in Langenhoven Park, Bloemfontein.

“On arrival, they found a man in a vehicle with a GP registration number. They questioned him and searched the vehicle. They found five Kruger Rand coins, of which one was easily identifiable as fake due to its appearance.”said Police Captain Loraine Earle

“His alleged accomplice was found at a shop inside the shopping centre, where he was trying to sell a Kruger Rand coin. They also found about R70 000-00 in cash as well as forged ID documents. The vehicle used during the commission of a crime was also seized.”
