Police and SANDF Crackdown on Illegal Mining Operation in Northern Cape

The police in Northern Cape, together with the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), have successfully arrested 25 suspects involved in illegal mining activities in Namaqua and Frances Baard Districts.

The suspects, ranging from 26 to 50 years of age, were taken into custody as part of #OperationValaUmgodi.

The joint operation resulted in the confiscation of various pieces of mining equipment, putting a halt to the illegal activities that have been causing harm to the environment and posing a danger to the local communities.
