Randburg – The South African Broadcast Corporation (SABC) radio station SAfm lifestyle host, Phemelo Motene has resigned from her position to join Kaya FM 959.
Radio personality and veteran actress will start her new radio journey from 5 July with Kaya FM 959 hosting a night-time talk show.

Motene started working for SAfm as an anchor of ‘SAfm Life Happens’ in July 2019. She began her radio career in 1999 as a newsreader on Metro FM, by then known as Radio Metro.
In her acting and drama career, Motene joined Generations where she played Khensani Moroka, a lead role that was dearly loved by audiences until her departure in 2004.
The SABC radio station SAfm announced that KG Moeketsi will be standing in until a replacement is finalised.
“Ms Motene will be leaving SAfm at the end of June to pursue an opportunity outside the SABC. She is well versed in the radio talk show fraternity and we really value her contribution to the station and listeners,” said Fortune Combo Acting Business Unit Manager Kina Nhlengethwa.
Motene will now host the new evening show called ‘Point of View with Phemelo Motene, which is expected to delve into the day’s current affairs; touch on real issues; and share expert advice on the audience’s everyday question from 8pm to 10pm Mondays to Thursdays.
“Having Phemelo Motene as part of our weekday lineup will add even more gravitas to our already very strong Kaya 959 lineup. She is a hard-working professional who is loved by listeners,” said Kaya FM 959 Managing director Sibongile Mtyali.
Mtyali shared her views on the extension of Kaya Biz with Gugulethu Mfuphi, “This move solidifies Kaya FM 959 as the station for the multi-dimensional Gauteng Black middle class whose board interests cut across issues of financial security and economy, while at the same time enjoying music and fun.”
