Patriotic Alliance Expels Bonginkosi Khanyile for Publicly Supporting MK Party

Former Patriotic Alliance Youth President  Bonginkosi Khanyile

The Patriotic Alliance (PA) has expelled its Youth President and KZN Premier Candidate, Bonginkosi Khanyile, for publicly appearing at an event of the newly unveiled Umkhonto WeSizwe Party, backed by former President Jacob Zuma.

The incident took place at Mzo’s Lifestyle in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal, where Khanyile made a brief appearance at the Umkhonto WeSizwe Party event on Tuesday .

Despite claims of his alleged affiliation with the newly formed party, Khanyile has refuted these allegations, stating that he only attended the event to reconnect with Zuma. His public statement expressing his admiration for Zuma and disdain for Cyril has further fueled the controversy surrounding his actions.

In response to the incident, Meshé Habana, the PA deputy secretary-general, released a statement explaining the party’s decision to expel Khanyile.

According to Habana, Khanyile’s appearance at the Umkhonto WeSizwe Party event without consulting other PA leaders was deemed unacceptable.

Furthermore, the PA leadership expressed concerns that Khanyile’s actions could be misinterpreted as the party endorsing the rival political party, thus bringing both himself and the PA into disrepute.

As a result, the PA’s president, Gayton McKenzie, and deputy president, Kenny Kunene, have officially expelled Khanyile from the party. This decision was announced by President McKenzie.

“An announcement of who the new premier candidate will be shall follow in due course. The Youth Alliance also has a strong crop of young leaders from whom an inspiring young leader shall be chosen.” said Habana
