Papi Zothwane Appointed Interim Head Coach of Magesi FC

Magesi FC has announced the appointment of Papi Zothwane as interim head coach, following the departure of Clinton Larsen. Zothwane, who joined the club earlier this year as an assistant coach, will be supported by assistant coach Jacky Ledwaba in leading the team forward.

The coaching change comes in the wake of a challenging period for Magesi FC. The team recently suffered a 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United, extending their losing streak to three matches and bringing their winless run to six in the league. This series of results has placed Magesi FC at the bottom of the Betway Premiership standings, intensifying the need for a strategic turnaround.

Zothwane, a former Bafana Bafana midfielder, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Prior to joining Magesi FC, he held coaching positions at clubs including Uthongathi FC and Polokwane City FC. His familiarity with the team and existing rapport with the players are expected to facilitate a smoother transition during this critical juncture.

In a statement, Zothwane expressed his commitment to revitalizing the team’s performance: “We are hoping to carry on where we left off.” His immediate focus will be on addressing the team’s recent struggles, particularly their offensive challenges, as Magesi FC has averaged only 0.44 goals per game this season.

The club’s management has expressed confidence in Zothwane’s ability to steer the team through this transitional phase. Supporters are hopeful that his leadership will reinvigorate the squad and improve their standing in the league.

Magesi FC’s next fixture is scheduled for 29 December 2024, where they will face Orlando Pirates. This match presents an opportunity for the team to break their current losing streak and begin a positive trajectory under Zothwane’s guidance.
