Over 30 Festive Bookings at Risk as Shebeshxt Remains in Custody

South African lekompo sensation Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, popularly known as Shebeshxt, was lined up for what could have been his most prolific period yet, with over 30 gigs scheduled across November and December 2025. A widely shared gig guide revealed a packed calendar of performances, primarily in Limpopo and surrounding areas, showcasing his status as one of the country’s most in-demand artists during the festive season. However, his arrest on 12 November 2025 for attempted murder has cast uncertainty over these bookings, leaving fans and promoters in limbo. The 30-year-old star, known for his energetic hits and raw style, appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on 13 November, with the case postponed to 21 November, keeping him in custody. This development has sparked discussions about the impact on his career and the local music scene, as Shebeshxt’s rising popularity faces a major hurdle.

Shebeshxt was taken into custody on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, facing two counts of attempted murder related to an alleged shooting incident in Lebowakgomo earlier that month. Details of the charges remain limited, but they involve accusations of firing shots, prompting an arrest warrant issued just a day prior. He made a brief court appearance the following day, where the matter was postponed for further investigation and bail considerations.
This is not the artist’s first encounter with the law. He is currently on R5,000 bail for a separate attempted murder case from earlier in the year. Prosecutors have indicated a strong case, supported by evidence that led to the swift warrant. Shebeshxt will remain detained until at least the next hearing, a situation that has thrown his professional commitments into question during a peak time for live events.
A Glimpse into Shebeshxt’s Extensive Gig Guide
The gig guide, titled “Shebeshxt November Gig Guide,” listed an array of over 30 performances from early November through the end of December 2025. Venues spanned popular spots like Adventure Island Waterpark in Nazareth, Mama Isiapolokwane Central, 136Sixty Lifestyle in Acornhoek opposite TVET College, and multiple locations in Limpopo such as Polokwane, Lebowakgomo, and Mokopane. The schedule included high-profile events like the Dosgry Grill in Hammanskraal, Top Notch Lifestyle in Pretoria/Sunnyside, and the Mbotela Stadium in Mpumalanga/Mbombela.
The image circulating on social media showed several dates marked with red lines, highlighting the potential disruption caused by the arrest. With bookings stretching into December, including year-end celebrations like the Florence Palms Resort in Limpopo/Marble Hall on 01/12/26 (noting the guide’s extension into the new year), Shebeshxt’s team had positioned him as a festive favourite. His popularity in the lekompo genre—a vibrant mix of house, hip-hop, and traditional sounds—has made him a staple at township and rural events, drawing crowds eager for his unfiltered energy.

Shebeshxt’s Rise Amid Personal and Professional Challenges

Shebeshxt has risen rapidly in South Africa’s music scene, with hits like “Ambulance” and “Twerka” earning him a dedicated fanbase. His raw lyrics and high-octane performances have made him a go-to act for gigs, especially in Limpopo where he hails from. However, his career has been punctuated by controversies, including public disputes and legal issues that have kept him in the headlines.
In January 2024, the artist endured a devastating personal loss when his daughter was killed in a car accident, an event that influenced his music and public persona. Despite this, he continued to build momentum, releasing tracks and securing bookings that solidified his spot as one of the most sought-after performers for the end-of-year period.
